Mariella Walker has taught for over 14 years in public schools in Fairfax County, Loudoun County and with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Pirmasens, Germany. No matter where she teaches, Mariella brings an enthusiasm and energy to the learning process. Her students are actively engaged in learning new concepts through hands-on experiences. Quality literature provides a springboard to language and concept development. Active learning is woven throughout every session. Mariella’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as teaching endorsements as a Reading Teacher and English as a Second Language (ESOL) teacher.
Mariella brings this same enthusiasm to her educational seminars and workshops for preschool professionals. With an emphasis on active participation, Mariella presents information that will enable teachers to strengthen their knowledge base and develop students’ understanding of math, science, and literacy concepts and skills. She presents practical (and fun!) ways to reinforce skills. To register for Mariella’s upcoming continuing education seminars, click on the “Seminar Registration” toolbar.
Mariella is also available to speak at educational conferences, preschools and child development centers. Please contact her at Mariella.Walker@gmail.com or 703-231-0184.
In addition to presenting educational seminars, Mariella has been tutoring students since 1991. Tutoring sessions are geared to individual children’s needs. Some students benefit from enrichment sessions that go beyond their core learning at school. Other students need reinforcement and additional practice of skills taught at school. Lessons are created that use children’s interests as a springboard and motivation for learning. For example, one student LOVED hockey, so reading lessons incorporated information about his favorite hockey team, The Washington Capitals. 🙂 For more information about tutoring sessions with Mariella, please contact her at Mariella.Walker@gmail.com or 703-231-0184.
