Reaching Out to Dual Language Learners

Many of our students are in the unique position of developing two languages.  They speak a home language with their families and English at school.  These dual language learners have a gift for languages and our task as Early Childhood Professionals is to honor their home language and culture while developing English skills within the classroom.  During this two-hour seminar, educators will:

— learn about language development and second language acquisition

— identify ways to facilitate communication with students new to the English language
